I plan to finish the sewing for this piece tonight, and start the sewing for the next one.
(Machine number 2 and needle number 3 for this…)
I have decided to make some changes to the work I made last semester and use them in my show. Here they are as a refresher:
For this one, I plan to make some changes to the bottom section. I don’t really like some parts of how the strips hang and fall, so I am going to fix those.
Also, Kelsey suggested I dip-dye the fabric for a piece before cutting it into strips. Then when I weave it, there would be a color shift in the weaving. I am going to do this for the next one.
Thanks Kelsey!

Conceptual:
1. To change the surface and texture of an essentially flat surface by manipulating the surface of the fabric.
2. To challenge the traditional, preconceived idea of “weaving” by using materials and processes that differ from the traditional ways.
3. To show the different shades and variations of two similar colors in each piece.
Process:
1. Use traditional weaving techniques for assemblage of the pieces.
2. Make the weaving more contemporary by adding sewing elements.
3. Use varying shades of similar colors in each piece.
4. Make not only the weft of the weaving important, but also the warp.

Conceptual:
1) To look at how certain colors bring out certain emotions in people.
2) Use different layers of texture to relate to different layers of emotion people may have.
3) To create harmony between colors that relates to harmony between emotions
Process:
1) Bring several textures together in each piece, combining the texture of the fabric, the dyes added, the folding of the fabric, and the final sewing in the end.
2) Use different shades of one color in each piece.
3) Use traditional weaving techniques for assemblage of the pieces.
4) Make the weaving more contemporary by adding sewing elements.
